The 14 Day Drawing Challenge

I’ve recently joined a challenge by United Art Space to draw for 14 consecutive days in February. They provide the photos (which is a real treat and I look forward to daily), there are also a few time options of which I have chosen 60 seconds, 5 mins & 60 mins sketches.

Here are my drawings for the first 5 days, the themes were:

Day 1 – Contrast       Day 2 – Tone         Day 3 – Composition         Day 4 -Negative space             Day 5 – Shadow

Thank you to Taton Tubbs who provide the images and United Art Space for the great challenge. Looking forward to sketching some more.

Snoop

When I received the commission to draw a border terrier I was really excited, not only that, I was asked to draw him twice. One was a gift for christmas and the other a beautiful piece to put in their home.

It was the first time I had to do the same photo twice so I decided to draw them side-by-side. This photo is so cute with his tongue sticking out and I immediately fell in love with him.

Ellie & Oscar

I really love Christmas commissions, they are all done in secret, from arrangement, to previews and delivery. Here is one I did for a fellow dog walker I see most mornings, it was a gift to her husband.

With gifts it is a little sad not to know the reaction of the person when they see it, however I was sent a great video of him opening it. It made my Christmas morning xx

My graceful Whippet drawing

I’ve entered the Stockport Art guild exhibition and three of my pieces were accepted, my latest drawing of my little pup was amongst them.

It was a great turn out for the preview of their 96th exhibition and lovely to catch up with fellow artists and friends.

I’m happy to share that the “graceful whippet” drawing received category winner and not only that but joint 2nd prize by Colourfield Art Gallery.

The exhibition is now on show until 7th January 2017.
