This is the last days’ artwork from the 14 day drawing challenge and the theme was movement. We were allowed to choose from a selection of images and this one really captured my eye. The first couple of sketches were done in 60 seconds and 5 mins and the full piece took 1 hour to complete. This was one of my favourite drawings of the challenge.

The 14 Day Drawing Challenge
I’ve recently joined a challenge by United Art Space to draw for 14 consecutive days in February. They provide the photos (which is a real treat and I look forward to daily), there are also a few time options of which I have chosen 60 seconds, 5 mins & 60 mins sketches.
Here are my drawings for the first 5 days, the themes were:
Day 1 – Contrast Day 2 – Tone Day 3 – Composition Day 4 -Negative space Day 5 – Shadow
Thank you to Taton Tubbs who provide the images and United Art Space for the great challenge. Looking forward to sketching some more.

The Loomis method
This week I got introduced to the masterful books of Andrew Loomis. One in particular caught my attention: Drawing The Head And Hands. New York: Viking Press
He focuses on facial structures and within the first few pages you are shown all the possibilities/ variations of portraits.
The Loomis Method has got me intrigued and I am looking forward to studying his techniques.
Here is my interpretation of the front cover drawn in charcoal and chalk on toned paper.
